Woman sentenced for latest "vendetta" against crime commissioner
The crime commissioner’s security and family were also targeted
A woman has been sentenced for the latest “vendetta” against police and crime commissioner Donna Jones.
Teresa Skelton was slapped with an 18-month community order and 10-year restraining order after she repeatedly confronted Ms Jones at police and public meetings between 2021 and 2024.

The 65-year-old from Winchester was sentenced at Southampton Magistrates Court yesterday (2nd July) after being found guilty in May.
Skelton has to complete up to 20 days of rehabilitation activities with probation and to comply with a prohibition order, preventing her from attending any meeting relating to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, for a period of 12 months.
Ms Jones said: "The sentencing brings an end to a long, sustained, personal vendetta against me. This has affected my ability to carry out my role as Police and Crime Commissioner. It’s also affected my family, who have also been targeted, and my security.
"Teresa Skelton’s offending against me started in 2020 and her actions were, in the words of the judge, 'targeted, persistent, distressing, and unacceptable'.
“The judge also noted that she has shown no remorse for her behaviour which has been sustained and targeted.
"The sentence sends a clear message to others who think they can get away with malicious and intimidating behaviour that their actions will result in legal consequences.
"The 10-year restraining order gives me hope that this is now the end of her fixation with me, meaning I can get back to doing my job and serving the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight without fear.
"Anyone suffering in the same way should reach out and seek help and support”.
Ms Jones was also victim to a sustained campaign of stalking and harassment by Southsea man Robert Hood. In November 2025, the 59-year-old, of Kingsley Road, was jailed for 20 weeks and handed a lifetime restraining order. He has since been charged with breaching a restraining order against Ms Jones.
Police said: “We take allegations of stalking and harassment incredibly seriously and encourage anyone who has been affected by this type of behaviour to please contact police on 101, where you can speak to a police officer in confidence. Dial 999 in the event of an emergency or if a crime is ongoing.
“We understand that not everyone has the confidence to speak to police right away. There are support services, independent of the police, who can help you if you’ve been a victim of harassment.”
