Karl Benson, 40, of Amethyst Grove, Waterlooville, launched a remorseless campaign of stalking his victim between March 18 and May 3 in 2023.

Benson initially pleaded not guilty to a charge of stalking before opting to change his mind at Portsmouth Crown Court.

The court charge read: “You pursued a course of conduct, which amounted to stalking, causing (the victim) serious alarm or distress, which had substantial adverse effect on her usual day-to-day activities when you ought to have known that your course of conduct would cause alarm or distress.”

The defendant was given conditional bail until the next hearing on January 9.
