The teenager suffered a serious head injury on the northbound carriageway of the A32, in Fareham, just before the Quay Street roundabout.

In a Facebook post Mr Ford said: ‘Mikey still isn’t responding too well, he has squeezed our hands a few times today, and did quietly try to talk a couple of times this morning. But is mostly sleeping.

‘It’s going to be a slow recovery from these horrific injuries. But he’s strong, and he’s a fighter.

‘Thank you all so much for your messages and prayers.’

Dozens of friends and well-wishers have posted on the Get Well Soon Mikey page.

Connor Payne said: ‘Come on Mikey Ford you need to get better so you can go to the skatepark and show everyone what you got.’

Marie Smith said: ‘Come on Mikey!! You can do it!!! You have so much love being sent your way... Get well soon!’

Caroline Brown added: ‘I hope you get to read this yourself soon, I was so saddened to see your dads post about what happened to you and I will be sending thoughts, prayers and love.’

Police said the car involved was described as a three-door, silver car, possibly a Vauxhall Astra, which is likely to have damage to the front offside or windscreen.
