Denmead Parish Council has confirmed that travellers who entered King George V Field on the evening of Wednesday 29 July have now vacated the site following the issuing of an eviction notice. They departed on Friday late in the afternoon.

A council spokesperson said: “The council is pleased to report that only minimal damage occurred during their stay, limited primarily to the forced entry onto the field.

“Very little rubbish was left behind - bin bags were provided to assist with clearing waste, which the council will now dispose of. Thank you to our councillors who cleared and collected all rubbish, making the area safe for use again by all.

“We would like to thank all authorities involved for their cooperation throughout this process. Special thanks go to our clerks and head groundsman and team for their continued support, as well as to the councillors who assisted during this period.”
