Seven police officers arrest suspected drug dealer in Cowplain - with shouts of 'show me your hands' heard
A COWPLAIN woman was left ‘unsettled’ after hearing police shouting at a suspected drug dealer to ‘show me your hands’ before he was taken away.
Commotion was heard at the junction of Durley Avenue and Chatburn Avenue last Wednesday lunchtime as seven officers cornered a man in a white vehicle.
Police confirmed a man in his 30s was arrested as part of an ‘ongoing drugs investigation’.
The incident shook the female resident, who said: ‘(I was) in my garden when I was alerted by repeated shouting: “Show me your hands."

‘Concerned at what might be happening outside I went out to investigate.
‘There were five police vehicles and seven officers, surrounding a white vehicle. The driver was apprehended, arrested and handcuffed then eventually transferred to a transit vehicle and driven away.
‘The white vehicle was then collected by a recovery company.’
She added: ‘It was unsettling to see such an occurrence so close to our home. These are indeed worrying times.’
A police spokesman said: ‘This related to an ongoing drugs investigation and I can confirm we arrested a man in his 30s from Havant on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
‘He was subsequently released under investigation.’
