Criminals are knocking in doors offering roofing work
Residents are being advised to be vigilant after reports of rogue traders operating in the Portsmouth area.
Portsmouth Trading Standards put out the warning on social media on Tuesday, June 16 after thousands of pounds were taken from Residents in the Copnor and Drayton area. The rogue traders are reportedly knocking on doors and offering to do roofing work on the property which is not needed. They are also causing damage to roofs in the process.
A Portsmouth Trading Standards spokesperson said: “Please be aware that criminals are operating in the area - knocking on doors offering to undertake roofing works. We have received reports where residents have paid thousands of pounds for unnecessary roofing works, and potential damage being caused to their roofs.
“If you receive a knock at your door out of the blue offering roofing services our advice is not to engage further. Please do look out for family, friends and neighbours and report any suspicious incidences to us.”
