Portsmouth fraudster who burgled two homes in one day is jailed
A FRAUDSTER who stole cash and bank cards from people’s homes has been put behind bars.
James Bartlett, 44 from Berkshire Close, Fratton, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court for two counts of burglary and three counts of fraud by false representation.
The court heard both burglaries took place on August 15 last year.
First, Bartlett broke into a property in Orchard Road, Fratton, stealing a wallet and bank cards that were later used.

After this, he broke into a flat in St Andrew’s Road, Somers Town, taking cash, electronics and jewellery.
Detective Sergeant Deborah Mason, from the eastern Operation Hawk team, said: ‘Residential burglaries are despicable crimes.
‘The distress caused to victims is immeasurable.
‘I welcome this sentence and I hope it reassures our communities that we take these offences very seriously and investigate all available lines of enquiry to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.’
Bartlett was sentenced to two years and five months in prison on Friday.
