Police seize motorbike from Gosport BMX track - then rush to deal with fire started by youths
Officers have asked parents to be more aware of what their children are up to.
On Sunday, August 2, PCSOs in the town’s west and east policing teams were first called to a BMX track to seize a motorbike, before rushing over to a fire at the other end of the town.
Officers have thanked a member of the public who helped them out, and issued a stark warning about the dangers of the incidents hey have been dealing with.

Posting about the incidents on social media, a spokesperson for the police force said: “PCSOs, with assistance from Response Officers, seized a motorbike that was being ridden within the BMX track area in Alver Valley. PCSOs heard the motorbike and attended to investigate. Response Officers also attended to assist. Although the rider believed he had managed to get away, officers were waiting at the other entrance and the motorbike was subsequently seized.
“Later, PCSOs were called to reports of youths attempting to start a fire in Monks Walk. Upon arrival, those involved had run from the area. A fire had been started but was quickly extinguished before Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service attended to ensure the area was safe.
“A big thank you to the member of the public who reported this incident. Without that call, the outcome could have been very different. Monks Walk contains a large number of trees and bushes, and a fire in this area could have spread rapidly, putting people and wildlife at risk.
“We take incidents such as these extremely seriously. We would also ask parents and guardians to be mindful of their children's whereabouts and activities at all times, particularly during the school holidays.”
