Police seize E-scooter from "abusive" couple spotted riding along busy Gosport road

Officers driving to a low priority incident along Henry Cort Way, in Gosport, came across a young couple riding on an E-scooter, prompting them to pull the pair over.

Taking to social media, the police said: “As you may know, privately owned E-Scooters are illegal to use in public, therefore Officers have attempted to engage with riders and advise them on the law and their safety.

“However both were not very receptive of the advice and became abusive to the Officers. Both also refused to provide their full details.”

As a result, the officers seized the E-scooter under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act where it will “likely” be destroyed.
