WATCH: Body-worn police footage captures moment two runners assist officer in police pursuit
After noticing a police officer ‘flagging’ during an on-foot pursuit, two runners came to the rescue and grabbed the fleeing suspect.
PC Frost took to social media over the weekend after a suspect bolted across Southsea Common to evade being arrested.
The officer chased after him but by the time he reached Southsea Common, he started to flag, prompting two members of the public to intervene.
“Just as I was flagging, a couple of runners have come to my aid, sprinted past me and grabbed the guy I was trying to catch up with. The male was safely arrested.
“I spoke to one of the joggers after and thanked them for their help - the other had things to do and somewhere to be, so I didn't have the chance to thank them properly.
“I was still busy feeling like I was going to cough up a lung.”
The most recent Facebook post said: “You may have seen a post earlier this week from PC Frost, after he was assisted by two runners and a taxi driver in stopping a man who tried to flee from arrest.
As a result, a 24-year-old man from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
