Police crush small motorbike as teenager arrested after residents terrorised in Gosport park

The bike is “making its final journey,” police said.

The rider of a small motorbike who was terrorising pedestrians at a park will have his vehicle crushed by police.

On Sunday, September 20, police in Gosport received multiple reports of a small bike being ridden dangerously around Forton Recreation Ground in Coulmere Road, Forton. The rider had numerous close calls with members of the public, before darting away when officers arrived.

The rider was part of a larger group of youths, police said, who eventually ended up leading them to the owner’s address - while a member of the public spotted the bike abandoned in some bushes.

In a statement on the Gosport Police Facebook page, PC Dallison said: “With the help of a very observant member of the public, the mystery was solved when the bike was discovered hiding in nearby bushes. The bike was seized and will now be making its final journey to the crusher.

“After a knock on the door, a 13-year-old male has now been identified as the person who failed to stop and is under investigation for a number of driving offences.

“Again, with the assistance of several members of the public who flagged us down, we have a good idea of who the other riders are, and they should be expecting a knock on the door in the coming days.

“As always, a huge thank you goes to everyone who called us, flagged us down, shared information, and provided evidence. Many of these results simply wouldn't be possible without the support of the community.”

Anyone with further evidence or eyewitness accounts of the incident is asked to call 101, quoting the reference number 44260460712.
