A woman in her 80s died and another was injured during the incident at 12.06pm this afternoon (Friday 21 August) in the car park of Morrisons on Walpole Road. A massive emergency service response attended with the car park closed.
“It was reported that a grey Kia Soul was driven into the car park before colliding with two pedestrians and several other parked and moving vehicles,” police said.
“One of the pedestrians, a woman in her 80s, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. A second person reported minor injuries.
“We will be reviewing CCTV and other lines of enquiry, but would also like to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant dash cam footage.”
No arrests have been reported. Police said in an update: “The Kia driver was a man in his 80s. No injuries to him, and no arrests at this time.”
