Police appealed to the public

A perfume thief who was being hunted by police returned the item to the shop with an apology.

The theft happened on High Street, Lee-on-the-Solent, on Thursday 27 August at around 3pm. “It was reported to us that a man entered the shop and picked up a bottle of perfume, before leaving the shop without attempting to pay for this item,” police previously said.

Police appealed to the public with a CCTV image released and have now said the incident has been resolved. “We can confirm that the item has now been returned to the shop with an apology issued to the shop owner,” a spokesperson said.

“A community resolution has been issued in relation to this matter.”
