Man remains in custody as murder investigation continues after woman found dead at North End home

A man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody as police enquiries continues after a woman was found dead.

Police officers attended a home in Hartley Road, North End at 7.40pm on Monday, May 25 after receiving reports from South Central Ambulance Service that a woman’s body had been discovered.

The force have confirmed the death is being treated as suspicious, resulting in a murder investigation being launched.

A 60-year-old man was arrested, with an official police spokesperson confirming “he remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing.”

The property has been taped off by police, with officers stationed at the address throughout Tuesday (May 26).

The death has caused shock in the residential road, with one neighbour - 21-year-old Alfie Wiseman - describing the incident as “scary” and “very sad”.

He continued: “Nothing like that ever happens. You hear stuff on the news but you never see it that close to home.”
