Man appears in court charged with murder of pensioner Carole Langley
The man was also charged with assaulting an emergency worker
A Southsea man has appeared in court today (Thursday, September 17) charged with the murder of Carole Langley.
Scott Langley, 48, of St Paul’s Road also faces one count of common assault of an emergency worker, which also happened on Monday (September 14) when the 74-year-old’s body was found at an address in Cyprus Road, Portsmouth.
Langley appeared before Portsmouth magistrates wearing a grey tracksuit in the dock, and blew kisses to a friend as he was escorted out of the courtroom.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Portsmouth Crown Court tomorrow (September 18) for a further hearing.
Earlier today the family of Carole Langley paid tribute, describing her as “a wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister”. They said: “She was a kind and loving person who always put her family and loved ones before herself".
