Bank evacuated after bag found
A man is due in court over a bomb hoax that led to a Portsmouth city centre bank being evacuated.

Police were called at 10.08am on Friday (May 15) after an unattended bag was located inside Natwest Bank, Commercial Road. The force said “staff evacuated the branch as a precaution and called police”.
Now Jason Essery, 57, of Omega Street, Southsea, has been charged with making a bomb hoax by placing an article with intent, and harassment.
He is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 18).
