Police are appealing for witnesses to the hit and run

A man has been arrested for dangerous driving after hit and run left a pedestrian injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Horndean which happened between 9.10pm and 10pm on Friday (April 17) in which a dark coloured van collided with a pedestrian, who was carried on the bonnet for a short distance before coming off the vehicle and landing in the road.

This took place somewhere between the now closed Gale & Co brewery off London Road and the Fuller’s Distribution Centre. The van then drove off from the scene and is reported to have driven dangerously on the surrounding roads and roundabouts.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital with injuries but these are not serious.

“A 40-year-old man from Emsworth was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, and dangerous driving. He has been bailed with conditions until 17 July while we conduct further enquiries. The parties involved in this incident are known to one another.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or the manner of driving of the van, and perhaps captured anything on Dash Cam.
