Man arrested after punching man in 20s multiple times - knife recovered from scene

Police officers responded to a report of an assault in Allaway Avenue yesterday afternoon (June 25) at approximately 3:45pm. It was reported that a man in his 20s had sustained injuries after being punched multiple times and that a knife had been spotted.

A spokesperson for the police said: “Officers attended an a 42-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing a prohibited weapon, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

“He remains in custody at this time.”

The police have also confirmed that a knife was recovered by the officers who attended the incident.
