Man appears in court accused of trying to murder his partner in Denmead pub car park

A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder his partner by starting a fire in a car in a pub car park.

Gary Travers, 42, of no fixed address, is accused of trying to kill Georgina Ingall inside an Audi TT at mid-morning on Christmas Eve last year in the car park at the White Hart pub in Hambledon Road, Denmead.

Dressed in a buttoned-up polo shirt, Travers today spoke only to deny the charge and confirm his identity at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Travers was remanded into custody ahead of his trial on May 18.
