Inmate jailed for firearms offences could be hiding in Portsmouth after fleeing prison
A VIOLENT criminal jailed for firearm offences has absconded from an open prison and may now be hiding in Portsmouth, police have warned.
Jay Davis, 33, fled from Ford Open Prison, West Sussex, on October 12 and has been on the run ever since.
In an appeal on Friday, Sussex Police said the criminal was serving a sentence for possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
And in a fresh post today, the force warned Davis may now have travelled to Hampshire, ‘in particular Portsmouth’.

‘Do not approach him, instead dial 999 if you see him,’ a police spokesperson said.
Davis is described as 5ft 6in, of slim build, with brown hair.
The inmate was previously spotted at Chichester railway station.

Those who see him in Hampshire, are urged to call police using the reference 44200396445.
Residents who spot Davis in Sussex can use the reference 47200176527.
Reports can also be made anonymously by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
