The infant died aged 19 days old on December 19, 2014, two years ago today, after a fatal incident in Agincourt Road, Buckland.

His mother, Nicola Long, 43, is charged with the murder of baby Jake and two counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

She denies all of the charges.

After taking the verdict Mr Justice James Dingemans told the 14-strong jury, which retired to consider its verdicts on Friday, that ‘at least 10’ jurors must agree upon a verdict for the three remaining counts.

The court previously heard Jake suffered 17 rib fractures during his short life and died from a head injury.

The infant was born on December 1.

Nicola Brown and Jason Brown, of Seymour Close, Buckland, married after his death.
