Torrential rain battered the area as a yellow weather warning was issued on Thursday.

It led to the usual issues of flooding and a spike in crashes on the roads. But the wet weather also impacted the criminal justice system at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday with cases delayed due to “flooded cells” of defendants due in court.

A court spokesperson said: “There has been a lot of delays today with cases being processed due to flooded cells and delays in custodies arriving.”
