Woman arrested after police chase with puppy found in car

A Gosport woman was arrested for suspected drug-driving after a “dangerous” police chase - with officers making an unexpected discovery of a puppy in the female’s car.
The 27-year-old woman was chased along the A34 on Monday after failing to stop near Whitchurch having been clocked at 112mph. Hampshire roads policing unit said the female “continued to drive dangerously at high speed, putting other road users at risk”.
“Officers safely brought the vehicle to a stop after it was blocked in on the A339 in Newbury around 10 minutes later,” a police Facebook post added.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, possession of cocaine and cannabis and drug driving after failing a roadside drug wipe.
After searching the vehicle for drugs, officers made an unexpected discovery - a small Shar-Pei puppy was found inside. “Thankfully, the puppy was unharmed and has been rescued,” the post stated.
“Officers have nicknamed the dog 'Chase'. Chase was very sweet, maybe slightly scared, but by far the most sensible occupant of the vehicle.
“They say that Shar-Peis don't make good police dogs because they have a strong independent, stubborn streak and don't always do what they're asked. They also often say that dogs reflect their owners.
“Our priority is always keeping the public safe, including the smallest four legged passengers.
“The driver was interviewed and she has been released pending laboratory drug analysis. Enquiries continue into Chase's ownership.”
