Two boys arrested after smashing up cars and trying to get into Gosport house with weapon
Officers had to track down the two males in the early hours
Police have arrested two boys after vehicles were smashed up in Gosport - with the pair reportedly trying to get into a house with a weapon.
A 15-year-old and a 14-year-old are in custody following a criminal damage spree in the early hours of August 19. Gosport Police reported on Facebook that two males on bikes were smashing car windows and windscreens in St Nicholas Avenue.

The force said they then received a report in Pinewood of two people “attempting to gain entry to an address with a weapon”. “We can confirm no entry to the address was made and parties within were safe and well,” Gosport Police said.
Reform UK councillor Paul Jacobs for Rowner and Holbrook said; “The trail of destruction across Gosport is appalling. Thousands of pounds in damage to vehicle windscreens and bodywork has caused severe inconvenience and financial strain for residents, who must now pay insurance excesses or cover repair costs out of pocket.
“Hardworking families are unfairly bearing the brunt of this. I will be writing to Donna Jones, Police and Crime Commissioner to inquire how local police intend to address the recent surge in anti-social behaviour."
While searching for the boys, multiple residents told police their vehicles had been damaged. Officers then saw the pair smashing up a van in the car park outside the Sailmaker pub in Fareham Road.
The boys tried to flee the scene but were caught and “swiftly arrested”, police said. “A 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, both from Gosport, have both now been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remain in police custody at this time as we continue our investigation,” the force added.

“All of the reported incidents have appeared to have occurred within the space of 45 minutes. We are aware multiple residents and members of public within the surrounding areas will potentially find their vehicles and/or other property with damage and we urge anyone in the vicinity of the above locations to come forward.
“We are aware these spree of incidents will have a significant community impact and financial impact on those affected and urge anyone to report via 101 or Online. If anyone has CCTV or RING doorbell footage in relation to any of the incidents to please come forward and assist us with our investigation.”
Anyone with information is advised to call 101, quoting the reference 44260402486, or submit a report online via the police website.
