Police have arrested a fourth boy on suspicion of attempted murder after five teenagers were stabbed at a Halloween party at the weekend.

Detectives have arrested a fourth boy in connection with their investigation into a serious assault in Chandler’s Ford on Saturday, October 31.

The investigation was launched after five boys, who had been invited to a supervised party at an address in Park Road, were stabbed just after 10.30pm.

Officers established that an uninvited group had jumped a fence in the garden, before seriously assaulting the victims, three who are aged 16 and two aged 17, there and in surrounding streets.

Four of the boys suffered serious injuries and have now been discharged from hospital. The fifth, aged 17, remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

A fourth boy, aged 16, from Southampton, has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Police have also been granted an extension at court, giving them an additional 36 hours to question a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, both from Southampton.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday morning (November 2). Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy from Bristol also remains in police custody, having been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday night.

As part of ongoing enquiries, officers have carried out searches at three addresses linked to those arrested, two in Southampton and one in Bristol.

Several items have been seized from those properties, forming part of the force’s continued investigation.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “Since the investigation started, we have been contacted by a number of witnesses and have spoken with many. If you have contacted us, then you do not need to contact again, we will be in touch with you as soon as we can.

“If you cannot share information this way, you can call 101, and quote the reference 44260534624.”

Chief Inspector Rachel Noble, district commander for Eastleigh, previously said: "The violence witnessed on Saturday night will have undoubtedly been extremely distressing and concerning for everyone who was at the party.

"It is really important to us that everyone knows what support is available for them, should they want to talk about, and how they can report anything to us so the investigation team can continue with their enquiries.”
