Illegal e-scooters and e-bikes seized in Fareham as police issue warning to children and parents
These vehicles have been persistently ridden illegally in recent months
Officers have been seizing illegal e-scooters and e-bikes in Fareham.
Fareham Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out an operation targeting the electric vehicles throughout September 30. A total of four illicit bikes and scooters were taken off the streets.

Riders were driving them without insurance, or without appropriate license conditions. Fareham Police has issued legal guidance to the public.
They said: “Privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be ridden on roads, pavements or other public places. A legal e-bike must have working pedals, a motor no more powerful than 250 watts, the electrical assistance must stop at 15.5mph and they must not have a throttle.
“E-bikes outside these rules may be treated as motor vehicles and require insurance, registration and a driving licence. Riding illegally can result in seizure, prosecution, fines and points on your driving licence.
“Parents who knowingly allow their children to ride illegally could also face fines and points on their own driving licences. Please check the law before you buy or ride. Don't find out the hard way.”
