Hampshire and Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit said it has since been crushed due to not meeting legal restrictions. They said: “If you have an illegal bike then probably best not to draw attention to yourself.

“The rider of this electric motorbike was followed at over 20mph dangling his legs and not pedalling on Fratton Road. Rider stopped and checks of the bike showed the motor did not cut out at 15.5mph and without rolling resistance and no pedal input throttle to speeds of 31mph.

“The vehicle will now be crushed as rider is unable to make the vehicle road legal.”
