Dog found dead in burning car in McDonald’s car park as man arrested
Police have released two pictures of men over the incident
A dog was found dead in a burning car in a McDonald’s car park.
Fire crews rushed to the venue’s car park in Winchester Road, Petersfield, around 12.15am on Monday 22 June amid reports a vehicle was on fire with a dog inside. “Unfortunately a dog was found deceased in the vehicle,” police said.

An investigation was launched to establish the full circumstances before a 28-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of arson, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance. He has been bailed with conditions until 22 September whilst enquiries continue.
Police added: “As part of our enquiries, officers have been reviewing CCTV footage and are keen to speak to two members of the public who were seen in the area at the time and appear to have attempted to gain entry to the vehicle to help the dog.
“We appreciate that these are not the clearest images, but if this is you, or if you have any information which could assist our investigation, please report to us by calling 101 and quoting reference number 44260294619.”
