Teenage volunteers were also used to carry out test purchases of knives in Fareham and Gosport.

All shops approached refused to sell them to under 18s.

District commander for Fareham and Gosport chief inspector Sharon Woolrich said: 'We know that knife-related crime can have a devastating impact on communities.

'˜Our commitment to tackling these issues is ongoing.

'˜The positive results and low number of knives identified during the week of action in Fareham and Gosport is certainly welcome news.'
