Armed police spotted after M27 chase as three men arrested in Havant
Armed police were spotted after a chase along the M27 as three men were arrested in Havant.
Several police vehicles - including unmarked cars - blocked Emsworth Road in Havant after pursuing a suspected stolen vehicle from the A33 Bassett Avenue, Southampton, at 12.22pm on Monday afternoon.
Officers were seen around 2pm handcuffing three men and taking them into custody while searches were carried out of the suspected stolen vehicle - thought to have been taken on Sunday. The suspects are currently in custody being quizzed by officers.
Police said armed response vehicles assisted with the incident but it was “not an armed deployment”. A force spokesperson added: “Following a pursuit the vehicle came to a stop on Emsworth Road, Havant.
“Three men have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. They are currently in police custody. The vehicle was reported to have been stolen on Sunday, March 8, from the Portswood area, Southampton.”
