Abuse takes place behind closed doors warns Crimestoppers amid fresh calls to speak up anonymously
Abuse is taking place behind closed doors warns Crimestoppers amid fresh calls to the public to speak up anonymously.

Domestic abuse remains one of the crimes that is easier to hide which is why Crimestoppers is calling on people to anonymously spotlight whenever they suspect it’s happening.
The charity – which is independent of the police - is launching a new awareness campaign in the county to highlight that abuse takes many forms, and that it does not always leave physical marks.
Domestic abuse includes financial abuse, sexual abuse, coercive control, psychological or emotional manipulation, economic control, stalking, harassment or verbal aggression.
“These controlling behaviours often go unnoticed but can have a devastating, long-term impact on victims and their families,” a spokesperson for Crimestoppers said
Crimestoppers has reminded people you will never be asked about your own personal details when you contact the charity.
Beth Simpson, who is South Central West regional manager for the charity, said: “Often the biggest barrier that prevents people from speaking up is the fear of getting involved or of being identified.
“Through Crimestoppers, you can speak up whilst staying completely anonymous. Just one piece of information could help protect someone from further harm and allow them to get the support they desperately need. Together, we can help bring hidden abuse to light.
“No-one will ever know you contacted Crimestoppers. With Fearless.org and Crimestoppers-uk.org, computer IP addresses are never traced. For telephone calls to the independent charity’s UK Contact Centre, there is no caller line display and no 1471 facility. You will stay 100% anonymous. Always.”
