Help us light up St Mary's Church in Portsmouth this Christmas at The News carol service
TINY tots will have their eyes all aglow this week as The News Christingle carol service lights up the festive season.
The annual gathering at St Mary’s Church in Fratton, Portsmouth, this Friday (December 5) will maintain its tradition of carols sung by school choirs, readings of the Christmas story and the usual alternative telling of the meaning of the Christingle by Father Bob White, which culminates in the church lights being dimmed and faces captured by just the glow of the candles.

The service is again being supported by Portsmouth FC - with sporting director Rich Hughes, legend Alan Knight and club mascot Nelson in attendance - along with special appearances from Prince Charming and Buttons as Curtain Call productions gear up for the panto Cinderalla at The Guildhall (December 22 to 31).

The News editor in chief Mark Waldron said: ‘We again look forward to welcoming everybody to St Mary’s Church, which provides a magnificent setting for our annual service - none more so when it just lit by the flickering flames from the candles of the Christingles. It is a poweful reminder of Jesus bringing light to the darkness as we ready ourselves for what is a special time of the year.’
The service will start at 5.30pm.
