Stubbington yoga teacher creates book to make yoga more accessible to beginners

Caroline Roberts has developed a 60-day programme to introduce people to yoga

A yoga teacher in Stubbington has developed a book to make yoga more accessible to beginners.

Caroline Roberts hosts yoga classes at Crofton Community Centre in Stubbington, as well as teaching online through her YouTube channel Yoga With Caz.

“I have been teaching yoga for a few years now and one of the things I always get is ‘I can’t do yoga because I am not flexible enough,’” said Caroline.

“I believe that everybody should do some sort of reform or stretching or mobility work,” she said. “So I decided to create a book that makes yoga feel achievable for normal people who might otherwise think it isn’t for them.”

Her new book is called The 60-Day Yoga for Stiff Bodies: Reset and Realign, and is designed around a programme of 10 minutes of yoga a day for 60 days.

Caroline said: “We all watch TV or sit on the sofa for 10 minutes a day, we have all got 10 minutes we can squeeze into our day,” she said. “You can structure yourself and you can follow at your own pace.”

“You can start on day one and feel really stiff and by the end of it, after 60 days, you’ve created a habit.”

There are QR codes throughout the book that link to follow-along videos, so people can practise alongside Caroline, rather than having to work everything out from pictures alone.

“Before I became a teacher I used to go to classes and things would be explained to me in a way that I never really understood. So, when I am teaching, I kind of explain it better, in a way that people understand," Caroline said.

“I’ve been working on the whole thing for around a year, including writing the book, creating the programme and filming all the videos myself, so it feels a bit surreal that it’s finally nearly here,” she said.

“One of my favourite things about teaching is seeing someone come into class convinced they can’t do something because they’re too stiff, and then watching what happens after they’ve been moving regularly for a while.

“I wanted to get it out there that there is a different way of teaching instead of being taught advanced poses and struggling.”

Caroline’s book will be released on Amazon on 25th September. You can find out more about it here.
