These old Portsmouth shops have been sold off at auction - how much did they sell for?
Almost half a dozen old shops in Portsmouth have been sold off at an auction.
Vacant stores that were once much-loved cornerstones of our community have gone under the hammer at an auction via Clive Emson Auctioneers.
The auction, which was held online, saw a bidding war break out for a unit in Cosham High Street and for an old crafts and clothing shop in Gosport.

Currently let at £20,040 per annum, with a vacant shop, a freehold commercial and residential property at 244-246 Kingston Road, North End, sold for £282,000. Many will remember this unit as being the old Victory Trophies store, with the business recently relocating up to the top of North End.
Joe Rocks, auction appraiser, said: “There was keen interest in 244-246 Kingston Road, with 57 bids made, the last of which was for £282,000.”

The next unit up for auction was 18 High Street, Cosham, situated next door to Lloyds Bank.
This single-storey commercial unit sold for £200,000, which was £80,000 more than the lower end of the guide price - after 45 bids were submitted.

With planning permission to add a two-bedroom house at the back, a mixed residential and commercial investment at 75 Stoke Road, Gosport, was bought for £172,500. Freehold, the property comprises of two interconnected shops and a two-bedroom flat.
The unit is home to Bushman, a crafts and clothing store that has been in Gosport for the better part of two decades.

Rob Marchant, auctioneer, said: “Rents for the shop and the flat have not been increased since the current tenant took up occupancy 22 years ago.”
A two-storey maisonette above the Eastney Barbers store at 183A Eastney Road, Portsmouth, has also been listed but was not sold at the auction.
