A-levels 2026: Results joy at Gosport's St Vincent's Sixth Form College as teen gets into dream university

Fiorella and Chelsea from St Vincent's Sixth Form in Gosport both secured spots at their dream universities

It was a nerve wracking day for students at St Vincent’s Sixth Form College in Gosport and Fareham College in Fareham.

Students arrived early at the colleges to collect their results - while universities confirm student’s places online in the morning, most have to collect their exam results from the college or else wait until the afternoon for them to be emailed out.

Fiorella Careccio, 18, arrived with her mother and her friend, Chelsea Lawson, also 18, to get her results.

She had received a text from her desired university, Bath Spa, early in the morning, but decided not to read it until she received her A level results.

Stood in the yard outside the hall where she picked up her envelope, she was disappointed reading the sheet of paper.

“I didn’t get the grades I needed,” she said. As her friends gathered around to support her, Chelsea said: “You still got in though. I read the text this morning!”

In disbelief, Fiorella checked her phone before jumping up and down in excitement. Despite not getting the grades she needed to fulfil her conditional offer, she had been accepted to study Forensic Science at Bath Spa, starting in September.

“I am so proud of her, she is the first of my children to go to university” said her mum.

“She was so nervous. She got an unconditional offer from Portsmouth and a conditional offer from Bath Spa, but she really wanted to go to Bath, we visited a few times and she loved it.

“She is so so excited. I am so happy for her.”

It was good news for Chelsea too, who was accepted to study Biomedical Science at Canterbury Christ Church University. Both girls left the college happy, saying they wouldn’t have changed anything about their sixth form experience, and were excited to celebrate their successes.
