14 eye-opening snaps of Hilsea Lido as contractors apply base coat paint to walls

Hilsea Lido is making a splash as contractors make significant progress at the multi-million pound regeneration project.

With a huge tent covering the lido, it’s harder to keep tabs of what progress is being made within.

But, the Portsmouth City Council has provided an update with all of the latest.

The £7.75m scheme, which is being paid for by the Levelling Up Fund and carried out by Beard, has been ongoing since the start of this year with new changing rooms, benches, tables, fountain and a fully functioning pool pending.

Most recently, the contractors have applied a base coat to most of the walls, with some areas already painted blue. Despite the base coat not being applied to all walls, the manufacturers state that the areas with the base coat must be covered by the top coat within four days - otherwise it is ineffective - hence the blue paint in some areas.

The update has also explained that engineers from SSE are ‘working on bringing power directly from the source by the round about to the electrical substation.’

The project is due to be completed by the end of the autumn with plans to officially launch next summer.
