M&S team Havant scale Snowdon to raise over £2,000 for YoungMinds
Seven managers from M&S’ Havant store including Store Manager Lee, Lindsay, Shaun, Dan, Rhian, Molly and James climbed Snowdon last week to raise money for leading mental health charity, YoungMinds.
Scaling the 1,085m mountain on World Mental Health Day, the team set off at 10am and reached the summit at 2pm, before finishing the walk at 7:30pm – clocking up over 40,000 steps.
The team set out to raise £2,000 for YoungMinds, M&S’ charity partner, which is the leading mental health charity for young people – and have so far raised £2,085 via Just Giving.
M&S announced a new three-year partnership with YoungMinds last October, aiming to raise £5 million to support seven million young people and the adults in their lives through easy to access online resources and its dedicated Parent’s Helpline.

Research shows that five pupils in every classroom say that they are having difficulty coping with their mental health.[1] In the first year of the partnership, over £2million has already been raised.
To coincide with World Mental Health Day, YoungMinds organises Hello Yellow Day, encouraging schools and businesses across the UK to wear yellow to show young people they are not alone with their mental health.
Colleagues across M&S have been taking part through fundraising challenges.
Lee Smith, Store Manager at M&S Havant, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of Team Havant! It’s been a fantastic challenge but so incredibly rewarding when we know how worthwhile the cause is and all the great work YoungMinds do for young people’s mental health across the UK. It’s also been amazing to see all the support and generous donations we’ve been given by friends, family and loyal M&S Havant customers, so we thank them all!”
