The waterfront pub, which has been run by Melissa Cross and and Pru Hennessey for the past four years, has benefited from new carpets, new upholstery, varnished floors and new signage - giving the pub a freshen up for the new year.
Pru said: “It’s taken about two weeks inside but we’ve also had outside done in the summer and we’ve also had the patio done.
“We are really pleased with it.”
The Jolly Roger, which is part of Punch Pubs & Co, dishes up a pub classics including fish and chips, sausage and mash and steak and ale pie as well as burgers, grills and more.
Melissa added: “It’s actually called a ‘sparkle’ rather than a refurb so it’s just a little tidy up really - especially after doing up the outside in the summer and we’ve had so many people say how brilliant it is.
“We closed for two days - the workmen were great, they worked around everything while the pub was open so they were quietly working in the background doing bit by bit.
“It’s been amazing, absolutely amazing - I don’t think it had had a tidy up for years.”
