'We're evolving': Changes at MJ Fine Foods as friends rebrand to 'better define' the business following months of struggles

Customer feedback has prompted a food van to rebrand in a bid to ‘better define’ the business as the owners fight to continue operating following a ‘tough few months’.

After a decade of toying with the idea of opening a food truck, friends, Jordan Watts and Mike Prowting, from Havant, took the leap of faith at the start of this year - launching MJ Fine Foods.

Operating from within a fully converted horse box at their pitch Emsworth Sports and Social Club, the duo took to social media last month with concerns for the future, saying: “If things carry on like this, we may have to face some difficult decisions about the future of MJ Fine Foods… and that’s something we truly don’t want to happen.”

The News reported on the businesses struggles, which saw a wave of people offering their support and advice - and the friends have now made some major changes.

With a name change, a new logo and alterations to the menu, Jordan and Mike are hoping ‘new opportunities’ arise and they are optimistic for the future.

“We decided to change from MJ Fine Foods to MJ’s Kitchen because a lot of people were getting confused about what we actually do — many thought we were a wholesaler rather than a food trailer.

“We wanted our new name to better define our brand and make it clearer that we serve freshly made food directly to our customers. We’re hoping this change will help bring in more customers and open up new opportunities for us as a small business.

“We’ve taken on all the advice and feedback we’ve received — the support has been amazing. We always take advice professionally, not personally, and that’s been a key part of our growth.”

The food truck also attends a number of events and venues throughout the month, and for more information about where MJ’s Kitchen will be, click here.
