New Bengal curry house in Gosport gets top food hygiene marks after being told 'major improvement' was necessary
From ‘major improvement’ to ‘very good’
A popular Gosport curry house has had a dramatic turnaround in food hygiene score after inspectors revisited the restaurant.
The New Bengal on Stoke Road received a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating following a visit on October 14. There was surprise when the popular eatery received a rating of one in August with inspectors stating the cleaning was not to a “satisfactory standard”.

However, having addressed the issues highlighted in the report, a revisit proved more successful with establishment now rated as ‘very good’.
When visiting eateries, inspectors judge the establishments in three areas; hygienic food handling; cleanliness and condition of facilities and building; and management of food safety. The New Bengal received a rating of ‘good’ across the board.
The rating can be found on the Food Standards Agency website.
