Nando’s plans spice up at Pompey Centre

Nando’s remains tight lipped as plans develop for the new restaurant

Plans for a new Nando’s at the Pompey Centre are heating up, with the chain set to take over the former Benson for Beds unit.

The nationally adored chicken restaurant could soon open its doors at Unit 2 of the Pompey Centre.

And, in what could prove an adversarial spot for chicken lovers, the restaurant is set to be located next door to an existing Kentucky Fried Chicken.

News of a potential Nando’s at the Pompey Centre first emerged in March, before a planning application for external signs was approved by Portsmouth City Council.

Now, a second application has been submitted for another sign on the south side of the building, suggesting plans are starting to spice up.

We asked Nando’s for more information about the proposal and whether the restaurant is actually coming to Pompey.

In response, the chain told The Local Democracy Reporting Service to “keep an eye” on its website for any confirmations.
