Maritime Express Fish & Chip shop opens in Tap and Table at Portsmouth & Southsea Station

A new fish and chip has opened promising to deliver one of the nation’s favourite dishes “done right”.

Maritime Express opened in Tap and Table at Portsmouth & Southsea Station on Monday, April 27. The Lord Mayor Gerald Vernon-Jackson and Deputy Lord Mayor Abdul Kadir were on hand to cut the ribbon and be the first to try out one of Portsmouth’s newest eateries.

Owner Khalid Islam, of Portsmouth, has been in the catering industry for a long time and felt that this was the perfect city to open the shop which boasts “quality” produce.

He said: “This city has such a proud maritime history and what better way to celebrate than with the nation’s favourite fish and chips done right. It all started with the simple idea of good fish, good chips and an even better welcome.”

The main focus for Khalid and his staff was the quality of the food on offer, using frozen at sea fish and good quality potatoes.

He said: “We never compromise on quality, customer service and food safety. I am really excited to open Maritime Express in the heart of the city and customers will always find a happy face behind the counter.”
