5. Agora, Southsea
Traditional Greek and Turkish food is served at Agora. The Dish Detective particularly liked the ezme salad, consisting of fine diced tomato, onion, garlic, peppers, parsley and olive oil with hot spices. The reviewer said: 'I have never tasted anything like it and it is quite honestly delicious. It is refreshing while remaining really tasty – and perfectly complements the falafel, which is slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.' Photo: Dish Detective

6. King Street Tavern, Southsea
Dish Detective was stunned by the huge portion sizes, but was amazed by the mouth-watering food. The reviewer said: 'The modern menu brings to life a contemporary twist – an American diner Smith and Western feel combined with portions so big DD may as well have been the next in line for a Man v Food challenge.' 7. Pitigliano, Marmion Road, Southsea
The Dish Detective enjoyed the Tagliatelle Mari & Monti with king prawns, and shared the delectable Belgian chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream with their companion. The reviewer said: 'Pitigliano, quiet and understated, is an absolute find. Serving freshly-made cuisine which, when considering the quality of the decor, ingredients and service, is overwhelmingly good value.' Photo: Dish Detective

8. Beach Club, Clarence Esplanade, Southsea
Dish Detective was particularly fond of the jellyfish themed lampshades, and the chocolate fondant was the highlight of the evening. The reviewer said: 'It is extremely satisfying to put the spoon into the fondant and watch the rich chocolate sauce spill out. And it comes with chunks of honeycomb, honeycomb ice cream and chocolate soil, which all goes together so well.' It was one of the rare occasions where Dish Detective enjoyed the dessert even more than the main dish. Photo: Dish Detective
