Apsley House pub in Southsea reopens after £80,000 refurbishment
The pub has a new front, better toilets and has added a commercial kitchen
A Southsea pub has undergone a refurbishment, one year after being taken over by new owners.
The Apsley House pub on Auckland Road has had a £80,000 make-over, after Admiral Taverns invested money to improve the pub.
“We have a new frontage in a striking RAF blue, completely refurbished ladies’ and gents’ toilets, and a brand-new commercial kitchen downstairs,” said landlady Kate Thatcher.

“The new kitchen means we can now offer a much wider food menu across most of the week, which is something we’re really excited about.
“The new frontage has certainly given the Apsley some extra kerb appeal. It really stands out now, and we’re hoping it will catch the eye of people walking past and encourage lots of new customers to come through our doors,” she said.
The pub reopened after a three week closure on Saturday September 19.

“Saturday marks exactly one year since we took on the Apsley House, and it also marks the end of our three-week refurbishment — so it feels like a very special day for us,” said Kate.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our loyal locals who have supported us throughout our first year. You’ve helped make the Apsley the success it is today, and we’re incredibly grateful.
“We’re delighted to be reopening and can’t wait to welcome everyone back to our little pub. We hope you love the new look as much as we do,” she said.
The Apsley House is open from midday daily. You can find out more about their new menu here.
