Clarence Pier: So good it opened twice in a century | Nostalgia

Clarence Pier, Southsea, was originally built and opened on June 1, 1861, by the Prince and Princess of Wales and boasted a regular ferry service to the Isle of Wight.

It was damaged by air raids in the Second World War and was reopened in its current form on June 1, 1961, after being rebuilt by architects AE Cogswell & Sons.
