Another old Portsmouth pub wiped out | Nostalgia

The Navy Arms was a popular Victorian pub at Landport.

Once surrounded by terraced houses, 1960s’ demolition left the pub isolated until new building changed the landscape.

It was still open in the 1970s when St Mary’s Church – Portsea Island’s parish church – could be seen from wasteland.

In the ‘now’ photo the building on the left gives us a good reference point.
