Aerial views of two landmark Portsmouth buildings | Nostalgia
Unfortunately I do not have a licence to use a drone otherwise I would have loved to have taken today’s views high above these two sites.
At the top we have the now-demolished Milton teacher training college. On the left is Locksway Road and along the bottom is Goldsmith Avenue complete with tram lines. The land fronting Goldsmith Avenue has yet to be built on.

The avenue follows the route of the former canal that entered Portsea Island at, the still in situ, Milton locks.
Another feature of the photograph is the now-demolished White House pub on the extreme right at the junction with Eastney Road. The former college and playing field is now home to apartments and the Mary Rose Academy.

The second picture shows Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, before the massive rebuild in the 1980s and ’90s. In the centre are several of the original buildings from when it was a military hospital. Below that is what was Portsdown Secondary School.
Unlike today, there are few ambulances queued up outside the A&E on the far right. To the far left where cars are parked is now the hospital’s main entrance.
