The You Trust launch Hundreds and Thousands and Anchor of Hope fundraising campaigns as they seek support in helping vulnerable people in Hampshire
A charity has launched two fundraising campaigns as it appeals to the community for help in keeping some of its vital services running.

The You Trust, a charity which supports vulnerable people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, launched two fundraising campaigns at its offices in Portchester last week. The announcement comes as they struggle for financing on their more discreet projects, one of which is to purchase a new safe house for people fleeing their homes.
Tonia Redvers, director of paragon, counselling and young lives, wants to raise awareness in the community of the work the charity undertakes. She said: “We are launching our Hundreds and Thousands and Anchor of Hope campaigns. They are two campaigns that we would really like our communities to get involved in.”
The Anchor of Hope campaign relates to its Counselling with You service which The News visited in September. The service provides general counselling for people who live, work or study within the PO1 to PO6 postcodes. Based in Kingston Crescent, North End, they help individuals who need help with issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and drug and alcohol dependency, among many others.
The campaign is aimed to secure support from the community with its current funding set to end in December 2024.
The Hundreds and Thousands Campaign is aiming to raise £500,000 to set up a safe house for individuals fleeing their homes. That could be due to domestic violence, coercive and controlling behaviour, as well as many other issues.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight police and crime commissioner, Donna Jones, attended the campaign launch having supported a number of The You Trust’s projects. She said: “They are a charity that go above and beyond to help people. As police and crime commissioner I fund a number of projects.
“The You Trust runs a project for me which is about going into schools and working with young people, particularly influencing children around how to make sensible choices to keep themselves away from crime.
“They are brilliant, please do go onto their Facebook page, their social media pages, You Trust Hampshire, follow them, support them because they are there for everyone.”
The charity has an extensive history of helping people in Portsmouth and Hampshire. While much of their work may go unnoticed, Tonia is hoping that by appealing to the public, people will support them in anyway they can.
Tonia said: “At The You Trust we are celebrating our 40th anniversary next year but so many in our communities don’t know who we are. We have been here all that time supporting and helping vulnerable people and we now need to come out to the communities and get the help and support we need to enable us to continue the work that we are doing.
“We are finding it harder to get fundraising for some of our discreet project so we are asking our communities, can you help us? Can you help fundraise? Can you help with volunteering? We want to let people know what we are doing and how we need their support.”
