Southsea hotel steps into the breach to offer respite to NHS staff during pandemic
A SOUTHSEA hotel with close links to the NHS during times of national emergency has stepped into the breach to help brave health workers dealing with coronavirus.
The Queens Hotel on the edge of Southsea Common is being used by around 30 health workers as a place of respite from dealing with the deadly disease.
As a show of gratitude, the hotel was lit up on Thursday evening with a giant heart and the words: ‘Supporting the NHS.’
During the Second World War, the building served as a hospital for recovering servicemen.

Managing director, Farid Yeganeh, said: ‘The Queens Hotel may be closed to the public but we are proud to be able to support our wonderful NHS workers in such a practical way.
‘Health workers are using the hotel as a place to rest and seek respite from their duties on the front line.’
