Horndean care home thanks community and staff for kind support through pandemic
KIND gestures of support from the community have boosted a Horndean care home throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Care UK’s Pear Tree Court, on Portsmouth Road, has expressed its gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of the village and its dedicated team members over the past couple of months.
From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and people have really gone above and beyond.
Pear Tree Court was inundated with support, receiving care packages from Growing Places Nursery, as well as pizza from Domino’s in Cowplain, and a large delivery of food and health products from Savers in Havant for the care home.

The home has also welcomed three volunteers in recent months who have been sharing their spare time with residents, helping to keep everyone entertained by supporting the lifestyle team during their activities and working in the garden, including building a bird table.
Vintage singer Miranda Williamson visited the home on VE Day, transporting residents back to their youth with renditions of wartime classics including We’ll Meet Again and Wish me Luck as you Wave me Goodbye.
Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creativity, team members at Pear Tree Court have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.
David Taylor, home manager at Pear Tree Court, said: ‘We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past couple of months, whether that be through volunteering, sending tokens of appreciation, or preparing care packages for our team.
‘Every single thought, message and gesture has helped to raise the spirits of our fantastic team and has brightened the days of residents missing their families.
‘It really has kept everyone going. On behalf of everyone at Pear Tree Court, thank you so much.’
Pear Tree Court provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The care home has its own cinema and hair salon, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
